Kendells Bistro brings the charm of a tucked-away French village bistro to the city, with a pre-theatre set menu that’s as tempting as it is good value. French-inspired favourites include Burgundy snails in garlic and parsley butter with puff pastry, slow-roasted duck leg and beef bourguignon. Enjoy two courses for £31.90, three for £36.90, or make an evening of it with three courses and half a bottle of house wine for £44.90.

Early evening dining at The Whitehall Restaurant & Bar
Make an evening of it at The Whitehall, where the Early Evening Menu offers three courses and half a bottle of wine (or another selected drink) for £38. Available Monday to Saturday, from 5pm to 7pm, the menu features tempting dishes such as Yorkshire grain-fed chicken, monkfish tail and classic fish and chips, with sticky toffee pudding for a sweet finish. Steak upgrades are also available.

Sarto’s popular lunch and pre-theatre offer pairs a snack with a fresh, house-made pasta dish for £18.50. Start with extra virgin olive oil focaccia, tomato and basil bruschetta, or scamorza arancini with charred red pepper aioli, before tucking into campanelle with cashew cream or fettuccine with vodka cream, guanciale and pistachio crumb.
